The lawsuits, filed on Thursday, October 1, seeks damages over Good’s death and alleges that federal officials violated her civil rights.

It also challenges the government’s account of the January shooting, placing the conduct of the ICE agent and the immigration operation under renewed scrutiny.

The lawsuits were filed by Good’s partner, Becca Good, and her brother, Brent Ganger, who is acting as trustee for her next of kin.

One case names the United States and seeks damages over Good’s death.

It includes claims involving wrongful death, assault, battery, negligence and emotional distress.

Becca Good is also seeking damages for the emotional harm she says she suffered after witnessing the shooting. The case requests a bench trial.

The second lawsuit names the ICE agent and several Trump administration officials, including White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and former Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino.

It alleges that federal officials and immigration enforcement personnel participated in a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights and seeks a jury trial.

A central part of the family’s argument concerns the use of deadly force.

According to the complaint, the agent was not in the path of Good‘s SUV when he fired.

The family alleges that Good was moving the vehicle away from him when the shots were fired and that the shooting violated federal use-of-force rules governing situations involving moving vehicles.

The complaint also alleges that Good did not receive immediate medical assistance after being shot.

According to the filing, a bystander who identified himself as a doctor offered help but was prevented from providing it.

Good was a 37-year-old US citizen and mother of three living in Minneapolis.

On January 7, she was in her South Minneapolis neighborhood while federal immigration agents were conducting enforcement operations as part of Operation Metro Surge.

According to video of the encounter, Good was sitting inside her SUV while her partner, Becca, was outside speaking to and recording federal agents.

Another officer eventually ordered Good to get out of the vehicle.

The footage shows Good reversing and then turning the SUV as she began driving away.

The ICE agent, who was near the front of the vehicle, fired three shots.

Good was fatally wounded, and the SUV then crashed into a parked vehicle.

Accounts of the shooting were immediately disputed.

Federal officials argued that the agent acted in self-defense, while Good’s family and other critics have argued that the video shows the vehicle moving away from the officer when he fired.

Good’s death became a major flashpoint surrounding the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in Minnesota.

Her killing was followed later that month by the fatal shooting of another US citizen, Alex Pretti, by federal agents.
