Iran Cites Intelligence Warning of Another U.S. Attack but Provides No Details
TEHRAN, IRAN: Iran has issued a fresh warning to the United States as President Donald Trump signals that he is considering major options regarding the nearly seven-month-old conflict.
On Sunday, September 20, Iran said it had information suggesting that the United States and its allies were preparing another large-scale attack. Tehran warned that any new offensive would trigger sustained retaliation against U.S. bases and interests across the region.
The warning came as Saudi Arabia faced renewed attacks and Washington urged Americans in the region to remain vigilant amid the risk of further escalation.
Tehran Warns of a Wider War
Iran’s military central command said that any new U.S. or allied attack would not be treated as an isolated strike.
Tehran also warned that regional countries supporting Washington would be considered parties to the conflict and could face consequences.
Iran did not provide details about the intelligence it cited as evidence that another U.S. attack was being prepared.
The warning came at a tense point in the conflict, with fighting and related attacks already extending beyond the direct U.S.-Iran confrontation. Reuters reported that the escalation was also affecting other parts of the region, including Saudi Arabia and key shipping routes.
The U.S. State Department issued a new security alert over the weekend, urging Americans in the Middle East to exercise heightened vigilance.
The warning also cautioned that the evolving security situation could lead to flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions.
The U.S. advisory came amid renewed attacks by Iran-backed Houthi forces against Saudi Arabia, including reported strikes targeting Riyadh and oil infrastructure in Yanbu.
Saudi authorities said they intercepted a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh, while the Houthis claimed they had launched ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones, toward the Saudi capital and Saudi oil facilities.
Trump Says “Very Big Things” Are Coming
Against that backdrop, President Donald Trump said Sunday that he was in what he called “deciding mode” over Iran and warned that “very big things” could happen soon.
Speaking with Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst, Trump described several options under consideration, including increased military action, continued economic pressure, or reaching a deal with Tehran.
Trump also told Yingst that Iran should “behave” while discussing the possibility of further escalation in the conflict.
Trump said, “My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up? They better behave.”
Trump did not, however, rule out diplomacy.
He said he would “probably be open” to meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.
