The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, September 11, after the woman arrived via an Uber and made contact with private security at the property. Security informed her that she could not stay, and she initially left the area before returning a short time later.
A spokesperson for Harris confirmed that neither the former vice president nor her husband, Doug Emhoff, was home at the time of the incident.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene and filed an official trespassing report.
The woman was neither arrested nor cited. Law enforcement confirmed she never entered the residence itself and voluntarily departed after speaking with deputies. Authorities say it remains unclear why she targeted the property initially or why she returned after being turned away. A spokesperson confirmed that neither the former vice president nor her husband, Doug Emhoff, was home during the incident.
Security Intercepted Individual Before She Reached House
Harris’ spokesperson, Eduardo Negrón, confirmed that private security officers stopped the individual before she reached the main residence.
“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” NegrĂłn said. “Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff were not present. They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly.”
Following the incident, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station announced plans to step up patrols in the area. Lt. Jason Duron noted, “We’re gonna keep an eye on the location. I’m directing my deputies to keep an eye on it.”

The incident highlights current security arrangements at the estate. Former vice presidents traditionally receive six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office. While former President Joe Biden had previously issued a directive extending Harris’ Secret Service detail, President Donald Trump revoked that extension last year. Harris purchased the four-bedroom, six-bathroom Malibu property for $8.15 million. Situated on three-quarters of an acre, the gated estate features luxury amenities including a heated pool, an in-ground spa, a fire pit, and Pacific Ocean views.
