An 11-year-old girl in Oklahoma has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing her 15-year-old brother.
According to police, the fatal shooting occurred on Wednesday at a residence in Edmond while the siblings were home alone. Officers responded to a call at the residence around 4:00 p.m. and discovered the teenager dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The sister was arrested on Thursday and booked into a juvenile detention center on a second-degree murder complaint.
While authorities have not released details regarding a potential motive, neighbors expressed shock over the incident.
“It was shocking that it was them,” local resident Richard New told KOCO News. “The parents always seemed friendly, kids seemed friendly. Didn’t see the daughter much.”

His wife, Michelle New, added: “It is happening in our neighborhood. There are no words… Definitely the last house on the block we would have expected anything like this to happen.”
The couple captured video on their doorbell camera of police cruisers speeding down their street, later noting that patrol cars lined the block.
Police say the investigation remains active and that additional charges or arrests are possible.
